Buy-out lets Demys stake claim on its own
domain

Scottish domain name adviser Demys, has
completed a buy-out from its parent, Henderson
Boyd Jackson, for an undisclosed sum.
Demys manages the domain name portfolios of a
number of blue chip firms throughout the UK,
Europe and the US. One of its early successes was
the securing of the domain name IF.com, for
Halifaxs new on-line banking venture.
Co-founder Penny Hearn said managing domain name
portfolios was now an integral part of building
and protecting a brand. "If a company doesn't have
a domain name strategy in place as it develops,
this spells trouble in the future," she said.
"There is huge potential. Most businesses now
understand the rationale for our services. In the
early days we dealt with IT departments, but
increasingly large companies align us with their
marketing function or company secretarial, which
is commonly responsible for other elements of an
organisation's intellectual property.
"We help protect brands on the internet, and
that's vital in today's electronic marketplace."
Hearn and chief executive Andrew Lothian have
enjoyed significant customer and revenue growth at
Demys.
