Frequently Ask Questions on Whois Privacy Service
Q) How does Whois Proof Service help reduce spam?
A) Due to the dynamic email system used on the Whois Proof
Service, your visible email address is changing at regular
interval, so while it is being harvested and redistributed,
it will be changed and the previous address will no longer work
for the spammer by the time they use it. Furthermore,
advanced filtering system is being utilized to detect and
filter off any virus-infected of spams sent to your email
address.
Q) What if I need to prove ownership of a domain?
A) You have the ability to temporarily modify the contact
information of your domain through your domain panel account
at any time. You may ask the verifying party to confirm the
updated whois information of your domain after that. Your
domain name will be reverted back to the Whois Proof contact
information again on the next update. If you need to disable
the Whois Proof Service on your domain permanently, please contact us
about it.
Q) What if someone sends something to the mailing address?
A) You must notify us in advance if you are expecting to
receive any mails to the Whois Proof mailing address. Mails
received without any advance notification will be discarded
automatically. Once notified, we can forward such mails to
your real mailing address. However, you will have to bear
the full cost of the mail forwarding.
Q) Why can't I use this service with my .US domain name?
A) The .US Registry has the following requirement in their
policy:
"The United States Department of Commerce's National
Telecommunications and Information Administration ("NTIA")
has recently completed its review of "proxy" or anonymous
domain registration services by .us Accredited Registrars.
At the conclusion of this review, NTIA directed NeuStar to
phase out the offering of such services by Registrars or by
any of its partners or resellers and to ensure that complete
and accurate WHOIS data is provided for any existing
registrations in .us."
We are required to comply with such policy as domain
registrar. Therefore, we will prohibit the offering of the
Whois Proof Service to .US domain names.
